The Experience
Step 1: Book Your Photo Shoot
The ideal time to book your maternity and newborn photo shoot if you live in Shellharbour is as soon as you have your estimated due date. Your newborn photo shoot will be scheduled two weeks after your due date. If your little one arrives earlier/later the date is adjusted accordingly.
Newborns are up to 4 weeks of age & older babies up to 12 weeks of age (styled as a newborn session) and we will be capture more awake photos of your baby. Newborn sessions are held in our Balgownie studio, where you can sit back and relax while we capture your precious new baby. Our studio has various props, wraps, and backdrops available for use.
As a newborn photographer, I have many clients from Shellharbour and the South Coast that come to our studio to capture their newborn and family photos.
Step 2: Before your session
Pregnancy is one of the most precious and exciting times in a woman’s life and goes by in a blink of an eye. Capturing your beautiful bump is something I know you will cherish for a lifetime.
With all newborn bookings you have the option to include an indoor or on location maternity shoot between 30-34 weeks. The outdoor locations are spread across the Illawarra coastline (in particular some spots near Shellharbour) and there are some pretty spectacular hidden gems that Lauren can take you to.
You will have access to an array of bespoke maternity gowns from the studio’s client closet. You can view these here.
A preparation guide and questionnaire will be emailed to you to complete. This assists Lauren to style your newborn photo shoot and create beautiful memories for your family.
Step 3: Your newborn Session
This is when all the magic happens! The hardest part of your day should be leaving the house, as once you arrive it’s time to relax! Have a coffee and some nibbles put your feet up….some parents will even have a little sleep!
Your baby will be wrapped during your session which allows us to achieve more positions & prop setups. This ensures your baby is comfortable and warm.
Sibling and family photos are included in your session and will be taken first. The session will take up to 2 hours which includes your viewing session directly after your photo shoot where you see your images for the first time.
Step 3: See your photos that day
Whilst relaxing with your baby your photos will be displayed on the big screen and this is where the magic happens. This is where you get to relive those amazing moments and pick the memories you would love to have.
Specialising in exceptional bespoke wall art & printed products, you get to select from an array of incredible heirlooms to have your memories brought to life on. For me I’m a big lover of albums and have some pretty impressive ones on display!
Together we will work through your images, allowing you to choose your favourites and decide on which artwork and products will suit your home. It is a good idea to take a look around your home before your appointment and decide on where you would like to display your images.
Better still bring a photo of the wall and we can create a scaled mock up for you.
Step 4: Pick up your photos
Guess what!
You will receive your photos within one week of your session and your final collection of photos, wall art and albums within four weeks!

Stepping into Lauren’s studio you will feel instantly at ease. During your session, Lauren will encourage you to take time out and simply relax whilst gently and delicately capturing your newborn baby and family photos. By the end of your session you will be calling her your own personal baby whisperer!
For your safety, Lauren has invested in a hospital grade disinfection device that is COVID certified. This device is used in addition to the studio’s thorough cleaning process to protect against virus & bacteria. Lauren also uses personal protective equipment during your session.
